Please Help Curtain Call at Sterling Farms

Here's you chance to help. Today is Giving Day!

Today, Thursday, February 27, 2020, you can make a big impact with an online contribution during this 24-hour day of giving which will help support Curtain Call’s scholarship program, year-round programming (12 or more full scale productions), free outdoor Shakespeare on the Green performances, and numerous youth programs at schools, libraries and more. Make a difference. Make an impact! Go here and get involved now!

Stamford’s only year-round nonprofit producing theater company, Curtain Call, does a lot! “We are blessed to have many loyal patrons and fans. There is no way that we could produce 12 to 14 full-scale production each year as well as provide educational workshops, scholarships, free outdoor Shakespeare and much more, without contributed funds from generous corporations, small businesses, foundations, and most notably, individuals. Asking for money is one of the most challenging things we do, but ask we must. What’s truly heartwarming is that when we ask, people respond.”

I’ve had the pleasure of getting in a few minutes of quality time with Lou Ursone, the theatre company’s guiding light, and let me tell you: he’s Holy Smoke! Each year, Curtain Call donates “more than 1,000 tickets to other nonprofit organizations throughout the area. They’re used for raffles and silent auctions and are our way of supporting other organizations in their good work. Free tickets to senior groups and under-served youth populations are in addition to the 1,000+ donated.”

“Funds raised on GIVING DAY help: underwrite our Scholarship Fund, outreach programs to schools, community centers and libraries; support our free outdoor Shakespeare on the Green program; underwrite our Summer Youth Theatre program which offers 100 hours of program time for nearly 100 students each summer at a cost hundreds of dollars less than similar area programs,” Lou says.

He adds: “Awards and recognition have been presented to Curtain Call, including receiving the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Culture and Tourism; the ACE AWARD for Excellence in the Arts, and, for 10 years running, the organization has been named Fairfield County’s Best Local Theatre Group. Also, in a state-wide Facebook poll run by the Connecticut Tourism Board, Curtain Call was designated as the State’s Favorite Theatre site.  We are locally created, regionally recognized and a state-wide favorite.”

Curtain Call’s leader continues: “Your contribution of any amount will be greatly appreciated and will help keep our lights burning brightly for many years to come.On behalf of our Board of Directors, staff and the hundreds of artists each year who call Curtain Call ‘home’, WE THANK YOU!”

From the desk of Paul grillo, executive director, Stamford Golf Authority

Welcome to Sterling Farms Golfer. Over the past five decades, Sterling Farms has evolved into one of the premiere golf destinations anywhere in the region. We continually strive to maintain, if not exceed, that distinction, and know we owe it all to our Stamford families, friends and neighbors, as well as our patrons like you. Now is the best time of the year to play our spectacular 18 hole championship golf course. Our Golf Course Superintendent, Mike Golden, and his whole team, are leaders in the world of greenkeeping, and we are very proud of the quality of their hard work. I think you'll find our putting greens, fairways, tees, roughs—and every landscape feature here—reflects their devotion and hard work. It is spectacular. Sterling Farms is home to the area's top driving range facility. You won't find a better value, or level of quality, anywhere! We take great pride and joy serving you, and our local community. On behalf of all of us here at Sterling Farms, welcome and thank you!
